This case study shows how A Stronger Idea Design led senior UX and product design to improve operational visibility, decision-making, and system clarity for a large-scale urban mobility management dashboard.
Flowbird’s Urban Management Dashboard supports city teams responsible for monitoring, managing, and responding to complex urban mobility systems in real time. The platform needed to surface large volumes of operational data across multiple contexts while remaining usable under time pressure.
Existing interfaces made it difficult for operators to quickly understand system status, identify issues, and take action with confidence. The challenge was to improve clarity and decision support without oversimplifying critical operational detail or disrupting established workflows.
A Stronger Idea Design led UX and product design for the dashboard experience, providing senior design leadership across research, experience strategy, and interface design.
The engagement was led by ASID’s founder and senior design lead, working closely with product, engineering, and city stakeholders to ensure the system supported real operational needs while remaining scalable and maintainable.
To create a data-rich, intuitive experience, our team conducted user research through surveys and focus groups to understand operator pain points and priorities, developed personas to model real-world usage across cities and municipalities, mapped workflows and created wireframes focused on clarity, speed, and task-orientation.
Additionally, we collaborated closely with engineers and analysts to ensure technical feasibility and data integration, built high-fidelity prototypes for usability testing and validation, and oversaw design implementation to maintain visual integrity and UX consistency through launch.

A modern, intuitive interface with powerful backend integration was delivered. Below is a demonstration of features from the on-street parking UX/UI.
Gain a comprehensive view of parking activity across cities, municipalities, or specific zones—including real-time parking sessions, average payment amounts, payment methods, and user types. Parking meter data such as issues, alerts, and performance metrics are also displayed with interactive map indicators. All data is filterable by date and geographic zone for operational clarity.
Define and manage "parks" and zones using an intuitive configuration interface. Administrators can create new regions, set up zone profiles, configure tariffs and policy rules, assign special days, and manage on-street, off-street, and EV (park & charge) parking configurations.
Navigate an interactive map showing park and municipality zones, complete with terminal status overlays. High-level data includes terminal types, operational status, alert summaries, and campaign activations—providing quick access to system-wide health.
Dive deeper into terminal performance with detailed filters and an integrated map/table view. Users can drill down into data using a collapsible side panels, allowing them to investigate issues while maintaining broader context.
The Tariff Policy Management section provides a clear overview of all existing tariff policies, allowing users to easily see which zones have tariffs applied. By selecting a specific policy, users can access and edit detailed settings, including general information and tailored day/time rules for different user groups such as visitors, local residents, and merchants.
Settings for existing terminals can be easily edited, including identification details, location, photos, and other key information—all accessible through an interactive map and table interface.
Access in-depth insights into physical and digital cash collection workflows, enabling improved tracking and reconciliation of revenue streams.
A built-in AI assistant designed to help users quickly run reports, analyze data, and receive insights—all through natural language queries.
Evaluate the potential financial impact of tariff changes using historical data and traffic patterns. Simulation tools and reporting features support data-driven decisions for pricing and policy adjustments.
The redesigned Flowbird HUB dashboard helps city operators gain a clear 360° understanding of parking operations, maximize curb space and ease congestion, manage and optimize revenue with real-time analytics, and reduce fraud, errors, and inefficiencies in the field.
With high engagement, positive feedback, and measurable business results, the project became a flagship for Flowbird’s urban management suite—positioning them as a global leader in smart city mobility.
